KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police are searching for about two dozen Caribbean nationals who ran ashore from a Go-Fast boat at Golden Beach in Florida Sunday night, the Jamaica Observer has learned.
According to media reports out of Florida, the Golden Beach police said 20 to 30 people, including Jamaicans fled from the boat at about 8:25 pm and then scattered.
Reports are that the illegal migrants were dropped off by the boat and immediately began running from authorities.
Officials said one person had to be rescued from the water, after jumping from a bridge while trying to elude police.
Several agencies responded to the scene along Ocean Boulevard just south of Palermo Avenue, media reports said.
More information later.
